Race Across America
Solo British cyclist Jim Rees attempts to break the UK record for ‘the world’s toughest event’, the transcontinental 3000 mile Race Across America
A one-hour documentary charting the remarkable resilience and determination of an ordinary person accomplishing an extraordinary achievement. Cycling for 20 -21 hours every day for 12 days, the race crosses 14 states and four time zones. Encountering desert heat of 115 degrees and thin mountain air, the Race Across America is the most extreme cycling marathon for the world’s toughest athletes.
Starting in Oceanside, California and ending up in Atlantic City, New Jersey 3047 miles later, the varied terrains of America’s landscape serve as a beautiful backdrop for the challenge. Race Across America is an engaging portrait of one man’s inner belief, desire to inspire and relentless quest for the ultimate sporting achievement.
Off the back of the film, a sports nutrition firm launched a nationwide advertising campaign featuring Jim Rees’ achievement. The main image for the campaign was a still taken from the documentary.
