Loch Rannoch Half Marathon taught me a valuable lesson | running vlog

By - Richard - 17th November 2023

I entered my first running event in 18 months – the Loch Rannoch Half Marathon, in Perthshire in Scotland.

Prior to the half marathon, I got covid. Again. For the fourth time. And this hampered my training. I deliberated long and hard about whether or not I should travel to Loch Rannoch and enter the half marathon. I had only really been able to do about 5 weeks of running training. From experience, this is not nearly enough.

I had paid my money to enter the half marathon so decided that I would give it a go, but just try and enjoy the experience rather than push it hard.

Fitness wise, I was well short of where I wanted to be going into the half marathon, but the race surprised me. It taught me a valuable lesson about running, about the half marathon distance and about life.

More importantly, I began to wonder whether or not there is any other running event in the world as beautiful as the Loch Rannoch Marathon. I am inclined to think there’s not.
