Independent Films
Award-winning Independent filmmakers
Since Swift Films was founded in 2004, our mantra has always been to produce independent films.
In particular we love the freedom and accessibility of the documentary art form. Over the years we have produced a raft of award-winning independent documentary films alongside our paid and commissioned work.
From the Bafta-Scotland nominated feature documentary End of the Road to the Royal Television Society Award-winning Race Across Amercia and Ian Rankin’s Secret Edinburgh we work on long and short form films.
Passionate about independent film
Some people call them passion projects, but for us as filmmakers and storytellers, producing documentaries independently reminds us why we love telling stories.
We feel so lucky to be able to do what we do. Producing documentaries independently allows us to refine our craft as filmmakers away from the pressures of a paying client.
This allows us to try out new techniques or use different bits of kit.
Did we mention that we’re obsessed by filmmaking technology? We love our kit! From aerial filming to motion timelapse, motorised sliders and 4K production, we love all things digital-filmmaking related.
Independent Producers Scotland member
Swift Films’ Managing Director Richard Nicholls is also a member of Independent Producers Scotland (IPS).
IPS is a collective of some forty film and television companies and represents the coherent voice of producers challenging the current situation of the film industry in Scotland.
Next time you work with us, we’d love to chat about all things film-related!
